At LonelyBots, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

WHAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY COVERS

This Privacy Policy covers how we treat Personal Data that we gather when you access or use our Services. "Personal Data" means any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual and also includes information referred to as "personally identifiable information" or "personal information" under applicable data privacy laws.

App Store Data Collection and Privacy Labels

As required by the Apple App Store, we provide detailed information about our data collection practices through privacy labels. These labels indicate:

  • Data used to track you: We do not track users across apps and websites owned by other companies
  • Data linked to you:
    • Email address and name (through Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In)
    • User ID (to maintain your account)
    • Usage Data (to improve our services)
    • Diagnostics (crash data and performance information)

For iOS users: You can control app tracking permissions through your device settings. While we don't track users across third-party apps and websites, you can manage app permissions through your iOS device settings.

Encryption and AI Model Access

Your chats with AI companions are encrypted in transit and at rest between our servers. This means that your conversations generally remain private and cannot be accessed by our staff during normal operations.

However, please be aware that when using our Services:

  1. Your chat content must be transmitted to third-party AI models through OpenRouter to generate responses
  2. While we implement security measures, the processing of your messages by third-party AI models is subject to their respective privacy policies and security practices
  3. We select partners who maintain high security standards, but we cannot guarantee the same level of protection once your data is processed by these third-party services

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We use your Personal Data for the following purposes:

Providing and Improving the Services

  • Creating and managing your account
  • Processing payments
  • Delivering the core functionality of the App
  • Improving and personalizing the Services
  • Analyzing usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • Debugging and fixing issues
  • Routing requests to third-party AI models through OpenRouter

AI and Chat Data Usage

Regarding our AI technology and chat data:

  • We use third-party AI services (OpenRouter) to power our chat functionality
  • We do not train or develop our own AI models using your data
  • Your chat history is stored using Firebase, a cloud database service provided by Google
  • Chat history is retained as long as your account remains active
  • You can request deletion of your chat history at any time

Your data is handled in accordance with Firebase's data handling practices and security measures. We've configured Firebase to maintain the privacy and security of your information, but the underlying infrastructure is provided by Google. All service providers are contractually obligated to use your Personal Data only as directed by us and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect and defend our rights or property
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Services
  • Protect the personal safety of users or the public

Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your Personal Data.

You can access and update your account information through the App's settings. If you need help accessing or correcting your information, please contact us at privacy@lonelybots.app.

Deletion

You can request deletion of your Personal Data by emailing us at privacy@lonelybots.app. Please include your account information in your request. Once we receive your deletion request, we will permanently delete all data associated with your account within 30 days.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the rights outlined in our California Privacy Notice, including the right to know what Personal Data we collect, disclose, and sell, and the right to request deletion of your Personal Data.

DATA RETENTION

We retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to provide you with the Services or to comply with legal obligations. When establishing retention periods, we consider:

  • The amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Data
  • The potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure
  • Whether we can achieve the purposes of processing through other means
  • Legal requirements

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

LonelyBots is based in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. where our servers are located.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Services are not designed for minors under 13, and our Terms of Service prohibit use by anyone under 13 or under 16 if you are a resident of the European Economic Area. If we discover that an individual under 13 has provided us with “personal information,” as defined in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), we will close the account and delete the personal information to the extent required by COPPA. We may, where permitted by law, retain certain information internally for purposes described in this Policy.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email (if we have your email address) at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the updated Privacy Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, with a possible 45-day extension depending on the complexity of the request. There is no fee for making a request unless your request is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded.
